Samantha Goodwill is the youngest daughter of George Wilson and Melinda Good. The family lives in a residence located above the business that Melinda manages and owns. Samantha was adopted by George and Melinda as a baby, she has two older siblings Asha and Jon who were adopted as well. George and Melinda are foster parents in their community resulting in the residence of the house to change often.
Melinda’s business is The Rowan Tree Tea House, and it services the metaphysical needs of the community. The Rowan Tree Tea House is a store that sells tarot cards, crystals, books and all things metaphysical, magical and spiritual. Customers can get tea leaf readings, tarot card readings, mediumship readings and psychic readings at the Rowan Tree Tea House since 1927 when Almeda Ross first opened The Tea House’s doors. Since then, the Tea House has taken on a life of its own choosing its owners and housing many souls both on this side as well as the Other Side.
Samantha always takes full advantage of growing up above a metaphysical shop. Access to information can be a good thing but it can also be a bad thing. It all depends on how a person uses the information. For Samantha too much access proved to be a bad thing.
When Samantha is in a terrible car accident with her boyfriend Carl she is left in a coma doctors cannot explain, While trying to find answers as to why their daughter is in a coma Melinda and George find out that their worst fears are coming true. Their daughter has not only been attracting spirits but that she has sought out a spirit they had tried her entire life to protect her from. Now, Samantha is trapped in a psychic prison of her own making and Melinda and George need to do anything they can to help her get out.
Melinda, George and their friends from The Rowan Tree Tea House need to find a way to draw Samantha out of her mental cell. With the help of other psychics here and on the Other Side Melinda and George figure out a way to get to Sam. In the process Samantha's birth mother is brought back into her life and the reason for Samantha's peril is brought with her.
